Akaroa and Banks Peninsula
The beautiful Akaroa harbour and village 90 minutes from Christchurch International airport, NZ. Nestled in the volcanic hillside landscape. Enjoy a cruise out onto the harbour to view the world’s smallest Hectors Dolphin - a variety of options: sail, motor, paddle!! Wander the village with it’s pretty history, or venture to the local bays to soak in the diversity of the area.
Plenty of local history & colonial charm
Settled by early Maori and then French and English settlers the Akaroa Museum is a great start to learning more about the area. The pretty heritage buildings and summertime gardens are a treat for photographers. Lots of fabulous cafes and restaurants catering for all budgets and food preferences.
Akaroa is also the start and finish of the Banks Peninsula Track
